The Port of Skagit has been working for years to get the SWIFT Center ready for development. As a functional health care facility that provided for all its own needs for decades, it was placed into cold closure for many years until the Port acquired the property.

Cleanup Activities:
2019 – The Pollution Liability Insurance Agency (PLIA) removed ~63.53 tons of contaminated soils at the Maintenance Building
2021 – Washington State Department of Ecology and US Environmental Protection Agency funded the removal of contaminated soils:
~210 tons from the athletic field
~1,554 tons from the ward building
2024 SWIFT Center Projects
•National Guard Expansion to add additional service bays
•Olmsted Park by the City of Sedro-Woolley
•NWIRC Lab@SWIFT in former Telecare building
•Starting to add security cameras to the public areas to replace security services
•Dorm Flat Roof Repairs to prevent additional stucco damage
